Susan Hilary Miles

Primary Location

Would you like to be more confident, productive and motivated?  Would you like help to change some aspects of your life?

I am a fully qualified counsellor, CBT therapist, life coach and supervisor.  It is important to me that you feel safe and comfortable knowing the therapist you have chosen has extensive knowledge and skills which have been gained over many years of working and training in their therapy field. I have many years of experience and work with children, adults, adolescents, couples, groups and families helping with issues which can ultimately lead to confusion, anxiety and depression, difficult moods and behaviours.  I can give you the space and time to make changes in your life in a private, comfortable and safe environment.

I am an experienced CBT and child and adolescent trained counsellor, accredited professional registrant with the National Counselling Society and a Registered Member of BACP. I am also a qualified life coach and use mindfulness-based CBT, relaxation and hypnotherapy in my sessions and as every client is individual, an initial assessment is encouraged before therapy begins.

Reflections Counselling is situated within very easy reach of the A1, M1 and M18 and there is a very frequent bus service a few minutes walk away.

I work with lots of different issues but the main ones are:

anxiety – which can be very debilitating and stop anyone from moving forward.  I can help you to understand these feelings and enable you to move on in your life

depression – which can take away the feeling that you may never be happy again.  Life can become uncomplicated again

couples/relationship/marital difficulties – whether you want to end a relationship or just want to work through some difficulties

abuse – emotional, physical, sexual and verbal

anger – exploring what makes you angry and enabling you to see the signs of anger building up

behaviour problems in both children and adults

bereavement, grief and loss – the loss of significant people in our lives can have a devastating effect on us.  Counselling can help you to come to terms with those losses and enable you to move on with your own life

chronic and terminal illness

confidence issues – I can help you to believe in yourself, that anyone has the ability to meet life’s challenges and the ability to succeed—and acting in a way that conveys that belief. Being confident requires having a realistic sense of one’s capabilities and feeling secure in that knowledge

domestic violence – or abuse can happen to anyone. I can help you to find out how to recognise the signs and how to get help

eating disorders

financial difficulties

goal setting – if we want to succeed, we need to set goals. Without goals we can lack focus and direction. Goal setting not only allows you to take control of your life’s direction it also provides a benchmark for determining whether you are actually succeeding

low self esteem

OCD

self harm

sexual harassment and assault

stress

trauma

work related problems

I work with children from the age of five, adolescents, adults, couples, groups and families.

I am fully DBS checked for both adults and children and I am also BUPA recognised and certified.

I can offer daytime and evening appointments for both counselling and supervision and I am happy to visit you in your own home if you find it difficult to get out and about.  I also offer an individual service for clients on the telephone or online if it is more convenient.
