Kate Axford

Primary Location

I have an Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapy and M.B.C.A.P. After teaching for over 35 years,I retrained as a counsellor and now also teach Counselling Skills to Adults up to Diploma level.I trained with M.I.N.D and SURVIVE (for survivors of abuse) and  10 years ago I began my own private practice and now work both online and in my home.

As an integrative  counsellor I am able to work with a variety of clients using a variety of theories and techniques . Over the years,I have built a specialism working with depression, anxiety, stress, as well as grief and loss. I have recently completed a course in Couples Counselling and have recently supported a number of couples successfully through a very difficult time. In the past I have also managed a unit for adolescents experiencing behavioural, emotional and psychological issues and also include them in my practice with a parent/ care consent.

In my practice,I try to create a safe, reassuring environment where my clients feel enabled to feel free to talk and express their feelings in the certain knowledge that they will be listened to with empathy and unconditional positive regard. I see my role as a counsellor as travelling with the client and exploring their journey . Such a journey can be difficult but you will always be supported and together we can move through to change to acceptance.
