Welcome! It’s not easy to find a therapist that you can trust and that can help you tackle the difficulties you are facing. It’s very important for you to feel welcomed at first, because it’s not easy to open your heart to someone you don’t know. Emel offers a confidential, warm, empathic and non-judgmental psychodynamic approach while addressing a broad range of mental health issues, personal and relationship difficulties. When you first come to see Emel, she will discuss your unique needs and your individual requirements and then will provide you with a space and support to deepen your understanding of yourself in your journey which is going to help you to reconnect with your true-self and with your social environment. She has worked with a wide range of adults and children with different backgrounds. She offers online and face to face sessions.
Recently, the coronavirus pandemic has impacted all of us; you may have lost your job, family members, suffered financial loss or had a forced change of lifestyle. Many people have to provide support for older ill and disabled relatives and friends. Emel provides therapy for clients with complex grief and difficulties dealing with the impact of the pandemic on their work life, relationship and families.
Emel worked as a therapist for the Refuge Therapy Centre in London for over 3 years where she worked with trauma and post-trauma stress related issues in men and women. Additionally, she facilitated and supported a refugee women’s group in long term therapy with psychosomatic issues and trauma.
She has worked with children as a school counsellor so is experienced with autism, ADHD, eating disorders and behaviour issues with children and adult clients. She is very passionate to provide support to parents/carers of loved ones who suffer with these difficult issues. In her experience, self-care, including therapy helps us to reconnect, improves our consciousness and enables us to support our loved ones in a better way.
I am a psychosdynamic counsellor and psychotherapist. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotheray (BACP).
As a psychodynamic counsellor, I believe our feelings, motives and decisions are actually powerfully influenced by our past experiences and stored in the unconcious – together we would explore these areas.
I have a degree in Psychology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Child and Adolesence counselling and psychotherapy from Birkbeck University
I am a bilingual therapist offering services in both English and Turkish
