I am a gay, male counsellor and therapist. I was married and have two grown up daughters. I am now married to my husband of 12 years. Prior to my career as a psychotherapist and counsellor I worked as a teacher of biology, eventually becoming a head teacher in two schools. I have over 40 years experience in education. These life experiences allow me to have empathy for a wide variety of issues brought by clients to the therapy room.
I first trained as an educational therapist in the early 1990’s, achieving a diploma in educational therapy at Regent’s College. In 2014 I embarked on a masters in Transactional Therapy at The Metanoia Institute in London. I am now in Year 6 completing my dissertation and moving towards my CTA in May 2020. In 2017 I gained my diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.
I have my own private practice which I began in March 2019. It is in Euston, Central London. As part of my training, I have had three placements. The first was at MCPS starting in September 2015 for one year (Metanoia Counselling & Psychotherapy Services), where I gained 100 hours of client work. In September 2016 I joined The Terrence Higgins Trust where I have worked for the past three years, seeing clients for both short and long term therapy. In January 2017 I also joined London Friend, an LGBT charity where I have worked as a short term counsellor. I now have over 1000 client hours and 370 UKCP accredited supervision hours and 60+ BACP accredited supervision hours. I have worked with both individuals and couples.
