I am a qualified person centred counsellor and psychotherapist, an accredited member of BACP, an EMDR practitioner,I also have a qualification in bereavement counselling.
I have over 35 years experience of supporting people with a variety of issues. I started my career as a mental health nurse and worked in a specialist unit for people with phobias and obsessive compulsive behaviour. I have 8 years experience of working with problem drinkers and their families in a variety of settings. I have worked in partnership with a local authority to support employees and worked in a specialist bereavement service. More recently I have worked in student counselling and I currently work as a counsellor part time at Edinburgh University THIS MEANS I CANNOT SEE CURRENT EDINBURGH UNIVERSITY STUDENTS.
I have worked within NHS, Local Authorities, Charities and Education. I have worked in cities and rural island communities.
My experience was initially in Mental Health Services and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. I am also an EMDR qualified practitioner and an accredited therapist with BACP.
I worked for eight years in services for people affected by problem drinking, and as a specialist for people affected by bereavement. More recently, I have worked in different Student Counselling Services, and also currently work part-time at Edinburgh University Student Counselling Services which prohibits me from seeing Edinburgh University students at Wellspring.
I have worked in partnership with a local authority to provide support for employers. I have experience of working and living in inner cities and geographically remote islands.
I have a degree in Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy, a COSCA validated certificate in Bereavement support, EMDR practitioner. BAC accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist.
