I am a person-centred counsellor integrating other methods and approaches such as Transactional Analysis, EMDR, Transpersonal Psychology and psychoanalytical tools. I trust that the most important feature of therapy is to create an atmosphere of empathy and non-judgemental positive regard. This creates a basis to enable the client to open up to their deeper issues and explore them together with the therapist. Talking therapy is, I feel, greatly enhanced by using non-intellectualising ways to access feelings and physical sensations directly and, through dream work, free association or creative expression. allow insight into unconscious motivators.
I live in Morayshire, Northern Scotland, where I offer face-to-face counselling in my therapy room in Kinloss or online counselling via ‘zoom’ or ‘skype’. I am a member of COSCA, the Scottish organisation for counsellors and psychotherapists and adhere to their code of ethics. I am insured and get regular supervision and personal therapy to back me up.
