Ann Sherwin

Primary Location

I am a qualified counsellor with over eleven years experience in working with clients of all ages and backgrounds.  I use an eclectic mix of theories to work in a holistic and individualised manner. I won’t use jargon or baffle you with  “tech talk”.  I will however, explain how theories relate to us, as human beings and anything else you may want to know in language you can understand.

I am aware of how difficult it can be to take the first step in seeking counselling support. I have undergone many hours of counselling during my training, which was a requirement of my training.  However I am also aware of the benefits of this requirement and that none of us are without our own personal issues.

It is my aim to make you feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible in our first session and able to open up about the issues that you have sought counselling to address. To assure you of complete confidentiality and provide  a non-judgemental safe place to allow you to be open and honest in your feelings and emotions.  I have probably been through similar experiences to you throughout my life.  This enables me to be empathetic to the issues you would like to address.

Essex have worked in many different areas including social care, education, as a school counsellor and working with mental health issues, substance abuse, domestic abuse and early childhood trauma.  Although this is not an exhaustive list of the issues I have worked with.

If you think I may be able to support you in finding a resolution to issues you may have about undertaking counselling please contact me.  If you need any more information before taking the first step to making an appointment, I am happy to provide any support you may need in making that decision. I am no different from you, I probably just work in a different area.
